This is us, dog sledding in the artic circle. These beautiful creatures seamlessly led us through an awe inspiring landscape. Running quietly and in sync. The howling and ruckus beforehand though was very different, the storm before the calm, the robustness needed to ensure momentum is effortless.
It got me thinking about unity, alignment and how direction is effortless when leaders are in sync. And that we also need to create space for respectful debate, resource coordination and excitement which gives rise to momentum.
Making Values based decisions ensures no regrets with the outcomes. And keep you grounded whilst others may question the move, resulting in a unified goal.
I'm not sure about you, but I do believe its both a leadership and human trait to rewind, revise and review our decisions, pre during and post the event. Whenever I see and experience value's based decisions, where the focus is on the greater good, the organisation as a whole and not self serving, there are no regrets with the outcome and as leaders, we rest a little more easy. The internal rewind and review more balanced, less frequent and external criticism navigated gracefully by leaders and the board, as most often than not, confidentiality means you will never be able to divulge the context in full.
It's in those difficult and challenging leadership moments that this becomes critical to enable organisations to effortlessly move towards their strategic goals.
I invite you to understand your priorities, your values, as a leadership team and an organisation. Put them into play, from a historical perspective - would anything have changed, from a forward moment perspective, test their robustness relevance and alignment. Test your ability to navigate criticism with grace.
It requires work to do this well, to robustly share and align on our priorities. Its never one and done, and its certainly not a word fest or marketing initiative. It should result in a living and breathing playbook for your leadership team and the organisation. For your board as well.
And, its culture building.
What's guiding your decisions in 2026? Let us create the space for your leadership team to define your values with clarity and certainty.
